Rural electrification rate by region

In 2024 the rural electrification rate reached 69.84% nationally, up from 65.84% in 2023. This progress nevertheless conceals significant differences between regions.

Rural electrification rate by region in 2024 (SIE Report 2025, DPESE, MEP)

The highest rates are recorded in Thiès (88.13%), Diourbel (84.59%) and Kaolack (82.49%). Efforts continue in particular in Kédougou (13.33%), Kolda (33.03%) and Tambacounda (37.35%), where rural electrification levels remain lower (SIE Report 2025).

Status of localities by region

Beyond the rural electrification rate, the status of localities makes it possible to measure achievements, interventions already under way and the needs still to be covered in each region.
